Verse 1 Corinthians 14.23 So If The Whole

Zaniyah Ingram opinion on Verse 1 Corinthians 14.23 So If The Whole

This verse was spoken by the apostle Paul when he was addressing the church; Paul was saying that it is important for everyone to have spiritual gifts. As a matter of fact, he encouraged everyone to ask the good lord to give them spiritual gifts, he went further to highlight the importance of having this gifts. He mentioned some spiritual gifts such as the gift of prophecy, the gift of discernment and the gift of tongues, but among all of these gifts Paul encouraged believers to seek more for the gift of prophecy. His reasons were that prophecy will not just make you a better person but can make those around you better too.

He also added that though, speaking in tongues is very important, it mostly has its effect on the individual that is speaking it and may not go far to bless the next person close to them. Paul mentioned that if someone must speak in tongue there should be someone else to interpret what has been spoken or they will all seem like people who are insane in the midst of someone who does not understand the dealings of the spirit. There are important lessons that you can pick from this verse, let’s take a look at some of them.

The first and basic lesson is the need to desire gifts of the spirit, when you have God in you there are certain signs that must manifest alongside it. These signs are the gifts from the good Lord; they include the gift of prophecy, speaking in tongues, discernment, healing and so on. These gifts are beneficial to those who have them as they can serve as important tools in breaking down strongholds and will definitely come back to give God the glory.

The gift of prophecy is one that Paul encouraged everyone to desire, but why? The reason is because when you prophecy, it does not just only make you believe by strengthening your faith. This gift of prophecy can strengthen the faith of those around you and being a child of God goes beyond making yourself better, it also includes making all those around you better too. You are not called for yourself alone; this is why Christ said he came to save those who were lost, not to save those who are already saved. This is interesting, it gives you that courage to want to ask the good Lord for this gift, well, no one is stopping you today, go ahead.

Another important lesson is that speaking in tongues truly makes you better as you are communicating with you heavenly father with mighty utterances. This is unique and a fine gift, but when you do this and unbelievers are around you, they will not get the point. Instead of sounding fine, you will be considered one that is insane; this is not what God requires from us. There is a demand placed on us to seek out the betterment of others around us before we seek out ours. Put this practice to heart; prophecy, make those around you better and in that means you is making you better too.
